Tantalisingly displays wine glasses without serving any alcohol. The set menus are great value-for-money; a la carte menu is extensive. Quite honestly, the food is incredibly good!
This place is highly recommended. Within the "Tooth Temple" complex. Comprehensive tour of the different forms of Buddhism and landmarks around the world, not just Sri Lanka. Worth the entrance fee.

Free breakfast in the morning is good and filling, but the restaurant area is otherwise usually really empty. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff.
Cute little cafe and souvenir shop. (Thankfully, they are not pushy at all about the souvenirs.) For breakfast, try out their "house special" omelette - not spicy at all, and delicious!
Watch out for the stray dogs that can sometimes get spooked late at night by noises and get aggressive. Gorgeous view in the mornings.
Genuinely one of the best hostels I've been in Sri Lanka, truly captures the backpacking spirit. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful - ask Lanka (the owner) or his staff and they give good advice
Pinnawala is a government-run place where you're not allowed to touch the animals and it's all run by trained handlers, as opposed to Millennium. Entry is 2500 LKR for foreigners, 700 LKR for SAARC.
Casual restaurant serving cheap drinks and Sri Lankan food. Portions are large and the kotthu rotis are my recommendations on the menu. Great place for a cheap breakfast by the sea.
Cheap way to get access to wifi at DXB airport compared to buying access on the normal airport wifi. You get a unique access code valid for 1 hour only with a purchase.

The pork is slow-cooked for 18 hours each day. Very friendly for families as well, and the staff are absolutely amazing. Great takeaway coffee.
