There is a second way through customs on lower level. Often quicker if departures level is plugged and you don't need to check bags.

Worst customs and security line ever. Took more than 2.5 hours to get to gate. Allow for 3 hours before international flights!

U.S. Customs painfully slow. If traveling or connecting in the U.S. ensure you arrive at least 2 hours before your flight. Free wifi to keep you occupied while you wait in line. Pack some patience.

Avoid international connections thru here. They're disorganized and completely unhelpful. No priority lines at customs for connections. Go thru YUL instead.
