Take one of the (paid) day/nighttime tours to really get the most out of the experience. Our guide told us more about Washington Irving than we learned at his house/museum at Sunnyside.

Two most celebrated people here are Washington Irving and Andrew Carnegie. There's also a sprinkling of Rockefellers, Astors, Chryslers, and the like. Also be wary of being blind-sided by sudden rain

It is just amazing to come in, see the unconventional art, very inspiring for my own perpetual resting place. Here you will find some famous names that have been burried here.

This isn't your ordinary cemetery. Sleepy Hollow Cemetery is "alive" with activities, which you should especially visit during Halloween. The lantern tours are to die for.

Take your own self-guided tour (free maps are available) and look out for the graves of Elizabeth Arden, Brook Astor and Washington Irving (aka Headless Horseman author) himself. 8.30am-4pm daily.

Make sure you visit Carnegie's grave. Not as over the top as some of the others, but a good tribute to a great man.
