Fun fact: Milford Sound isn't actually a sound... it's a fjord! It's also one of the wettest places on Earth, so pack a rain jacket and a camera and hop on board a cruise for spectacular views.
Bring a beanie, sunglasses, hat & layers (a windbreaker amongst them)! 1.5l of water per person would suffice. Comfy & waterproof shoes as well!
Park at the restaurant. And use their walkway. Much easier than battling through the bush.
The old shepherd church is a great spot for night photographs with the amazing sky here.
Built in 1935, the church is beautifully surrounded with lake Tekapo and the mountains. Perfect photo spot!
Definitely a must-see attraction when you're in the West Coast of South Island, New Zealand. Awesome ice formations and the wonders of glacier movement!
Can't get as close to the glacier as you can at Fox Glacier, but the walk is much easier. We got treated to a gorgeous rainbow across the valley though :)

Friendly staff. Good location. Free soup at 6pm. Fill up your petrol in this town as Fox glacier is about $.20c more per litre!

Super fun! Set in a beautiful Maori village, the Maori welcome the visitors in ceremony, then taken on a tour explaining some aspects of the traditional Maori life. Ends with a delicious hangi meal.
What a great town. Lovely people. Absolute drama watching the sky change. Light is lovely.
Great camping option. Camping only $2 more expensive than the entrance fee and you get the pools from 6am. Kitchen facilities limited but you're here for the pools!

Awesome falls. Make sure you walk the 2 minutes to the other viewpoint as it's amazing to see how much water pounds over into the river below.
Get there early, limited parking. Take plenty of water as well as beach entertainments
Must see! Bored of souvenir shops? Get there and buy some really nice gifts. Also great to get some fresh food or a hot coffee. Love it.
Classic New Zealand cafe in the middle of nowhere. Worth the stop just to look at the ocean view out back.
Find the secret climbing tree. A whole family can sit on top of it. Hint: it's near the cable car
The water is so clear, you can actually see all the fish and crabs that float past. The waves are pretty big as well.
Pretty interesting architecture. Love hundertwassers works and a pretty interesting man. Not sure if most kiwis understand how amazing he was, but for those who are interested this is a must.
It's worth a stop to explore the staircase carved inside a giant swamp kauri log. Also has an average cafe and good toilets.
Allow plenty of time to make the most of your visit. To avoid disappointment check the performance time to experience a Maori cultural performance of traditional and contemporary song and dance.
Check the tide tables before going. The best time is to arrive 2 hours before low ride

Amazing tour! Do the black water canyoning - you will ab-sail, zip line, float, walk, and climb. Worth the ticket price for the experience. Staff is supper supportive and helpful the entire way.
Grab some amazing pies and have a picnic at one of the wineries! Pork belly is a must!

Really nice place to catch up. Bring a coffee from one of the cafés and cool down with a good book in the grass. Or maybe working off some of those emails via the public wifi (free for 60 minutes).
Great little spot hidden away off the main drag. Oh.. And the coffee is the business. Get your butt there ASAP.
Picture-perfect natural hot pool. Bring candles and a bottle of wine and make sure you take all your rubbish with you.
If you're traveling between Taupo and Rotorua this is a great stop. It's a very impressive thermal mud pool and it won't cost you a thing!
