Has a couple of real ales on, but most people are there for the food, so the bar mostly feels like a waiting room. That said, the food is worth waiting for!
Quite a trendy bohemian style pub, lots of young men wearing beards and hats indoors. However, great atmosphere, lovely staff and good beer. Often has Hobgoblin, Caskade, Cumberland, Tiger, etc.
Even though they have real ale on tap, it's not well cared for. Once I went through 3 of the 4 guests and each one was vinegary. never again.
Recently under new management, pub is in much better shape and lovingly kept. Solid selection of guest real ales (Batemans XB on regular). Great for a swift jar while waiting for the rail crossing!
Castle Rock pub, with excellent ales always on tap. Harvest Pale is legendary, and deservedly so.
