Philadelphians love beer - so much that several local museums now have beer exhibits. Many of them featuring McGillin's Olde Ale House, the city's oldest bar. See exhibits then partake. Cheers!
Pa McGillin: Find obituary of Pa McGillin, the visionary who opened McGillin's Olde Ale House in 1860. Originally called "Bell in Hand Tavern" but everyone called it McGillin's. Still going strong152 years later!

Pa McGillin: Check out "American Spirits: The Rise & Fall of Prohibition." During prohibition, Ma McGillin's shackled the front door of McGillin's. The bar survived by letting patrons in the side door for "tea."
