Monumental French second empire building built on the site of the first public school in the USA.
It was here that revolutionary troops massed 59 heavy cannons in 1776 which threatened British ships in Boston harbour & caused them to abandon the city.

These two buildings contain the first school for blacks & their first church in the US. Was also where the American anti-slavery society was founded.
The lower part of the building resembles a Greek temple. The illuminated clock on the tower stands out against the taller buildings of the city.
